KuCoin DCA Bot - Secure API Setup Tutorial

How to Connect Your KuCoin Account to dca.bot

In this step-by-step guide you’ll create a restricted KuCoin API key named dcabot, enable only the exact permissions dca.bot needs for spot trading, lock the key to a single trusted IP address for security, and paste the credentials into dca.bot. If you prefer a visual walkthrough, the YouTube video is embedded below.

Before You Start

Make sure you have: a verified KuCoin account with your Trading Password set, an active dca.bot account open under Exchanges → KuCoin. dca.bot never needs withdrawal permissions and will only place/modify/cancel spot orders on your behalf.

Create & Restrict Your KuCoin API Key

Sign in to KuCoin and open API Management. Click Create API to start a new key. In API Name, use dcabot so you can recognize this key later. In API Passphrase, enter a passphrase you’ll remember (store it securely; KuCoin requires it for all API usage).

Under permissions, enable Spot Trading. Do not enable withdrawals. For security, switch on Restricted to Trusted IPs Only and add the single dca.bot IP address: 3.74.82.155. Click Add, then Next. KuCoin will ask for your Trading Password and 2FA if applicable—confirm to create the key.

KuCoin will now display your API Key and Secret Key exactly once. Copy both immediately and paste them to dca.bot.

Connect the Keys in dca.bot

Return to the dca.bot tab. Choose KuCoin as the exchange and paste your API Key and Secret into the respective fields. If the form includes a Passphrase field, paste the KuCoin API Passphrase you created. Save to connect. On success, KuCoin will appear as connected and your supported spot balances will load so you can create or edit your DCA strategies.

KuCoin API Setup (Quick Steps)

  1. Go to KuCoin API Management.

  2. Click “Create API”.

  3. Type “dcabot” in the “API Name” field.

  4. Type a personal API Passphrase in the “API Passphrase” field.

  5. Enable “Spot Trading”.

  6. Enable “Restricted to Trusted IPs Only”.

  7. Add 3.74.82.155 to the “IP Whitelist” field and click “Add”.

  8. Click “Next”.

  9. Confirm with your Trading Password and 2FA if required.

  10. Copy the API key and secret key and paste them into dca.bot (below). Keys are shown once—copy before continuing.

  11. You’re done!

Troubleshooting—Fix Errors Fast

“Invalid key” or “invalid signature”: Re-paste the API Key, Secret, and (if requested) your API Passphrase carefully—no extra spaces or line breaks. If the error persists, generate a fresh key and try again.

“IP not allowed”: In the KuCoin key, confirm Restricted to Trusted IPs is enabled and the allowlist includes 3.74.82.155. Save changes and retry the connection in dca.bot.

Balances not showing: Ensure you enabled Spot Trading (not futures), that your funds are in the spot account, and that you’re viewing supported spot pairs in dca.bot.

Permission denied when placing orders: Edit the KuCoin API key and verify Spot Trading permission is on and withdrawals are off. Re-save and test again.

Security Best Practices

Keep withdrawals disabled, restrict your key to the single trusted IP (3.74.82.155). Never share your credentials with unknown apps or people.

FAQ

Does dca.bot support KuCoin futures?
No—dca.bot integrates with KuCoin spot only.

Why do I need an API Passphrase?
KuCoin requires a passphrase for all API usage. You create it when you create the key; keep it safe. If dca.bot’s form includes a passphrase field, you’ll need to provide it.
